You get to see other peoples therapy style and a real unique opportunity to see how other people interact. The “actor as client” process brings life-like and safer skills practice into the workshop - an opportunity make mistakes with out consequences within a safe environment. This process offers unique hands-on training for professionals with sound theory to practice transfer.
What we do is take a practical ‘real world’ approach with ample opportunity to see ‘PTSD therapy in action'. We use live therapy demos & skills practice to map out complexity. Feedback from previous delegates said that they really valued not only Heather's authentic, expert approach & willingness to demonstrate clinical skills but also discussion of challenges, mistakes & complexity. Yes. Discussions are actively encouraged within the training, although please ensure that any client relevant material is made anonymous so that no individuals can be identified. Where possible questions are best asked in the group training so that everyone can benefit from the discussion. You can be pretty sure that if you have a question then others will also find the answers useful. Heather can’t answer individual client supervision questions but will be happy to discuss issues that relate to PTSD, trauma and other mental health issues if she can.
We will do whatever we can to assist our course participants who identify as having a disability. If possible, try to let us know 2 weeks in advance of the workshop so we can do what we can to assist.
